What’s the plan stan?

Led by Traci and Haley!

This hike is along the Colorado trail just past Jefferson Colorado. It is a very scenic easy 2 hour drive from Colorado springs. The plan is to do a 6-8 mile relatively flat hike along the Colorado trail enjoying amazing views of wildflowers, aspen groves and the Sawatch mtn range. Mountain bikers can continue all the way to hwy 285 trail head for an out and back total of 12 miles. After the hike / ride we will have lunch at the Hungry Mouse Caboose for the best burger in Colorado!

getting there

Meet at Kineo Fit at 6:30am if you’d like to caravan / carpool

Meet / Park the Hungry Mouse Caboose at 8:30 am and pack into fewer cars as parking is limited at the trail head and it is $10.00 per car to get into the Jefferson rec area.

Head up Michigan Creek Rd and turn right on Jefferson Creek Rd (37). Pay 10.00 entrance fee. After passing aspen campground look for the Colorado Trail. Park at the Beaver ponds picnic area just past the Colorado trial crossing. Directions here

HIKE DETAILS

Hike east on the Colorado trail for approximately 3 miles to a creek crossing. This would be a good turn around spot or decide to continue up another 1 + miles to the highest point on Kenosha pass. Turn around and walk back to cars and enjoy lunch!

RIDE DETAILS

Ride the same section as the hikers but continue on the Colorado trail all the way to hwy 285. This would be 6 miles out and 6 miles back. Note: the first 1 mile of this trail is a bit chunky but it turns into a relatively smooth flowy single track!

Other options in the area - Make your way up to the very pretty Jefferson lake for some paddle boarding or relaxation!
