Directions to the trailhead:
Turn left in Alma onto Buckskin st (co - Rd - 8) and travel 5 miles up a dirt road to trail head. Once in Alma it takes 30 minutes or more on the dirt road to make it to the trailhead
THERE IS A USE FEE PER CAR FOR THE AREA - Bring a pen and $8 per car!
note: the first 4 miles is nicely graded and the last mile is pretty rough especially for sedans.
WE WILL START HIKING AT 6:45 from the kite lake trailhead
There is an open field camping area 1 mile up Rd 8 from Alma on the right - Keith and Wyatt are staying here Friday night - there should be plenty of room for car / tent / or trailer camping here. Join us!
We will leave our camping spot by 6:00am in higher clearance vehicles
It will take approximately 7 hours to complete the whole loop and less for partial options
Bring plenty of water, snacks, lunch, rain gear, warm clothes, sunscreen, etc
We will try to get an early start to beat the afternoon weather and will turn around if mother nature is not in agreement for a safe summit.
You can choose drive up the morning of, or camp with us! If you are coming up the morning of and want to carpool in a higher clearance vehicle meet us at our camping spot before 6 am!
